About Us

Helping Patients With Rehabilitation Since ‘94

The owner of Bourbong Street Physiotherapy Centre, Elizabeth, is a physiotherapist with more than 35 years of experience. She started the centre in 1994.

Originally, Elizabeth graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 1985 before dedicating three years to working in the physiotherapy department of the Bundaberg Base Hospital. She vacated this position to travel and work overseas for a year.

When she returned to Queensland in 1989, she worked as a locum physiotherapist in several physiotherapy practices across Bundaberg, Redcliffe and Goondiwindi, before choosing to join the Mater Misericordiae Public Hospital in Brisbane. Here she worked for four and a half years and quickly progressed to an acting Senior Physiotherapist position.

For 6-12 months, she dedicated herself to outpatient care at the Mater Children's Hospital, where she pursued an interest in paediatrics. Following this, she worked for six months in the neonatal intensive care nurseries, where she treated premature babies at the Mater Mother's Hospital. She then continued for 2-3 years in the Mater Adult Hospital in the medical, oncology and orthopaedic wards.
