Physiotherapy for Pelvic Floor Muscle Dysfunction

Pelvic floor muscle dysfunction can affect both men and women, but it’s more common in women. The pelvic floor muscles support the bladder, bowel and uterus; they also play an important role in sexual function. If the pelvic floor muscles are weak or not functioning properly, it can lead to problems such as incontinence, prolapse and pelvic pain.

Physiotherapy can help to assess and treat pelvic floor muscle dysfunction. The aim of treatment is to improve the function of the pelvic floor muscles and relieve symptoms; it typically involves a combination of education, exercises and manual techniques.

Physiotherapy for Osteoporosis

Osteoporosis is a condition that causes our bones to become weak and fragile. Whilst more common in women over the age of 50, it can affect men and women of all ages. The condition can lead to an increased risk of fractures, particularly in the spine, hip and wrist.

Physiotherapy can help to improve the strength and flexibility of the muscles and joints, which can help to reduce the risk of falls and fractures. Treatment involves exercises that are specifically designed for people with osteoporosis, as well as education on how to prevent falls.

Physiotherapy for Pre & Post-Natal Pain

Musculoskeletal pain is common in pregnancy, particularly in the lower back and pelvis. This is due to the increased weight of the baby and the changes in our posture and alignment that occur as our bodies adapt to accommodate the growing baby.

Physiotherapy can help to relieve musculoskeletal pain during pregnancy. Treatment involves exercises and manual techniques to help improve posture, alignment and muscle function. We also provide education on how to manage pain during pregnancy and advice on what positions and movements to avoid.

Post-natal physiotherapy can help to ease the transition back into normal life after having a baby. It can also help to resolve any residual musculoskeletal pain that may be present. Treatment typically involves exercises to improve muscle function and restore normal range of motion, as well as education on how to manage any ongoing pain.
